1. Each student will prepare a community master file.
2. The students will be alloted families for gaining experience in identifying family health needs Counselling and guidence and family budgetting for optimum health in urban and rural community health field.
3. The students will participate in the activities of primary health center, sub-center, MCH centre.
4. Visits will be made to selected health and welfare agencies.
5. Conducts health education programmes individual / groups / community.
6. Supervise students and other health workers in the community settings.
7. At least 2 weeks rural community health experience under administration, education, supervision and community health.
8. To plan and participate in mass community health programmes including health exhibition.
9. Collect simple family health survey and analyse the data collected.
10. Write at least two family health care studies in rural area.

This course enables the students to recognise and appreciate the causes, symptoms and process of abnormal human behaviour. It also introduces the students to the present day modalities in the light of psychological, social and cultural factors effecting human behaviour. This course helps the student to learn principles of mental health and psychiatric nursing management of the mentally ill in hospital and community and to develop begining skills in management.

Nursing unit management : Physical layout of a nursing unit and necessary facilities, factors affecting the quality of nursing care. Maintenance of a therapeutic environment. Administration of the unit management of patient care, maintenance of physical environment, assignment of duties and time plan. Patient Assignment, Safety measures, prevention of accidents and infections, maintenance of patients records and reports, legal responsibilities, maintenance of quality nursing care, nursing audit.

Personnel management : Staff recruitment and selection, appointment, promotion, personnel policies in each department. planning the unit, job description, job specification, staffing norms, rotation plan, leave, performance appraisal, staff welfare and management of desciplinary problems. Observe the functioning of nursing administration at various level. i.e. institution, department, unit. Each studnets will practice ward management under supervision, students prepare rotation plan of the staff, wirte reports, give verbal reports of the ward and assist in maintaining the inventory of the nursing unit.
Students should present two seminars each under administrative experience.
Visit to private and Govt. hospitals and write observation reports.
